Michniewicz took over the struggling Jagiellonia Białystok just a week before the start of the season, shortly after the team’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Irtysh Pavlodar from Kazakhstan in the Europa League qualifiers. Having won 22 points in 17 games (10th place in the league), Michniewicz was sacked by Jagiellonia in December 2011 in a move that surprised many observers. The team did not improve its position at the end of the season.
