Michniewicz was named the new manager of Polonia Warsaw in the final phase of the 2011/2012 season for the last seven matches. Despite a promising start (two wins and a draw in the first three games), Michniewicz was unable to lift Polonia to the European Cups spot and left the position after the final match of the season as the owner announced a withdrawal from financing the club.
